Hi,welcome to my homepage .I decided to make this page in order to show several drawings that I have been doing over the years. I work with chalk pastels , soft pastels and colored pencils many times I use two or all three mediums in one piece .My drawings are of varied subject matter including some abstracts .Take a look at the drawings and let me know what you think.Thanks. |

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "MARDI GRAS EYES" This composition was inspired by the Carnival masks that you see in New Orleans during Mardi Gras, it isdone in color pencils (prismacolor). The colors in actuality are not as dark as you may see them, they are a bit lighter. I welcome your comments.Let me know what you think. I have'nt named any of my works as of yet, if you would like to help please make a suggestion.Thanks. |
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "DAMISELA DE LAS FLORES" This composition is inspired by Art Noveau posters,it is done in oil pastels using combination of various colors in order to evoke a springtime feeling to the piece. Please be patient some of these works take a bit of time to download.9"x12" |

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * "MIAMI'S BACKYARD" Flamingo in mangorves ,done in colored pencils (prismacolor) . Living in South Florida the Flamingo is an image that's around us in many pictures and photos. look.9"x12". |
The name Joe Cool is a nickname some friends of mine gave me & I thought why not use it for the page .Most people call me Joe or Jose. |
"GOING NATIVE" This is a primitive inspired abstract of a 3 headed native figure, the figures are in brown with a yellow background and stripes of several colors as a ribbon.Chalk pastels with a coat of gloss.9"x12". |

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * "DELICIAS TROPICALES" This one is in chalk pastels covered with a light gloss coat, the subject are tropical fruits and a rainbow of color in the background ,the idea being that the tropics are full of colors and smells.A delight to the senses.9"x12". |

I was told to add some information about myself so here goes ; I am 44 years old,I was born in Cuba and raised in the USA since the age of 9 . I speak Spanish , English and I know a little bit of French and Portuguese. I like Drawing & the arts , most kinds of Music ( dont like heavy metal music ) , Dancing although I dont get to do it much lately , History , Old Movies , New Movies , Foreign Films , Learning about People & their Cultures,Traveling,Science Fiction , Trivia Games , Reading , Quiet Time. My Art Education consists of classes I took in high school in the mid - seventies , a course in Arquitectural Drawing at Miami Dade Community College 1977, Commercial Art Course at Martin Studio of Commercial Art & Advertising in 1979. "MAN & WOMAN" I've been working on larger paper lately, 18" x 24", this is one of my newer compositions ,cosmic essence of man & woman done in pastels with a gloss coat ,this is not scanned directly so the quality is not as good as the others. |

I've just finished a piece using acrylic paint on canvas , the faces of three women one facing east one west and the one in the middle looking straight at the viewer , once I have photographed and scanned them I will put them up on the page , hopefuly it will be soon. |
